Cottage Remodel — Phase One Transformation

What started as a dark, dated cottage with heavy wallpaper, closed-off rooms, and aging finishes has now been completely transformed into a warm, functional, modernized living space — while still preserving the original character that made the home special in the first place.

For Phase One of this renovation, the focus was entirely on the main floor. The project included a full gut and rebuild of the kitchen and bathroom areas, updated plumbing and electrical, new insulation and framing work, refinished original hardwood floors, fresh drywall and paint throughout, and a complete redesign of the layout to improve flow and functionality.

One of the biggest goals throughout the remodel was finding the balance between modern updates and the cottage’s original charm. Features like the dark wood ceilings, exposed brick and stonework, original trim, and diamond-pane windows were intentionally preserved and incorporated into the new design rather than removed. Pairing those original details with custom cabinetry, quartz surfaces, updated lighting, and modern finishes helped create a space that feels both timeless and refreshed.

Seeing the transformation from the original condition to where the home is now has been incredibly rewarding, and this is still only the beginning. Phase One is nearing completion, and there’s much more planned for the rest of the property. Keep an eye out for Phase Two and future progress updates as the renovation continues.
